Jetsetter: a traveler's 5 must-haves

As any traveler knows, whether you're embarking on a road trip through the deserts of California (like I am above!), are on a painfully long flight to Australia, or are even commuting on NYC's Metro North train, there are a few must-haves that keep you looking fresh and feeling glam (without taking up too much real estate in your purse). Here are the things I currently take with me everywhere I go in my faux-leather Honest Beauty Jetsetter Travel Makeup Bag.

+ Lavender Essential Oil
While this isn't necessarily a beauty item, trust me when I say this is a complete must when on-the-go. Whether I need boost of relaxation to get me through rough turbulence, or simply need a little natural fragrance after surfing through the New York subway system, I always have my lavender essential oil on me. Rub a drop of this elixir between your palms, breathe in, and remain calm, beauty lovers.

+ The Perfect Nude
Nothing makes me feel more put together during a long trip than full, pouty lips, and for my everyday look, I'll admit I'm a complete and utter nude lipstick addict. A few of my fave nude combos? MAC's Velvet Teddy with Kylie Cosmetics' Angel Cake at the center, or Josie Maran Cosmetics' Honey topped with the Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb. Try the first combo if you prefer brown-toned lips, and the second if you're more of a pink lover.

+ Face Mist
If stale airplane air has you feeling a little less than hydrated, show your skin some love with Caudelíe's Beauty Elixir. This cult-classic mist mattifies, hydrates, and smells divine. It truly is the key to radiant, angelic skin (even above the clouds).

+ Mini Dry Shampoo
Hair in need of a pick-me-up? Lately, I've been obsessing over Batiste's Dry Shampoo Plus Divine Dark formula for brunettes. It's quick, refreshing, and doesn't leave any unwanted residue (and yes, I keep a full-sized version at home, and the mini version on me at all times).

+ Multi-Purpose Balm
If I forget everything else, the biggest essential in my eyes is a lip balm that you can use for just about everything. Although I've used and loved quite a few, I always seem to go back to Honest Beauty's Magic Balm. I use it on my lips, rub some on my hands when they're feeling a bit dry, pat some on my eyes when I'm going for a natural, glossy lid, and even use it on my cheekbones as a glowing highlighter.

What are some of your travel essentials?
