This past Saturday, I got to celebrate Isabella's Sweet 16 with my family and friends!
(You all first saw my cousin Bella in the Fairytale Hair post).
It is rare to have all members of my big, Cuban/Italian family in one room, but it is always a night to remember when we are together.
All the ladies spent hours getting glam for the special night - and here is what I kept in my clutch to make sure we all kept our looks on-point and photo-ready up until the very last dance.
I am in love with this blinged-out clutch my father gave me, but it is SO tiny. You can only fit the absolute necessities, and even then, you might need to take a couple of things out (trust me, I would bring my hairspray if it could fit).
But, at the same time, it's almost as if this little clutch has forced me to only bring what I really need, and step away from the idea that I have to look flawless at all times. More time keeping up with your look in the restroom means less time dancing and making memories with the ones that you love!
Which brings me to my first item in my clutch...
+ Your phone!
This item seems like a total given, but here are a couple of tips - just like spending too much time in the restroom can be a bummer, too much time on the phone can completely take you away from truly living in the moment. Finding the balance between documenting everything and waking up with zero pictures on your phone can be tough, but just remember to try and keep the texting and Snapchatting to a minimal. Take some gorgeous shots of you and your loved ones, then leave your phone in your clutch, get on the dance floor, and let loose!
+ Powder compact.
For all us oily-skin girls out there, you know that dancing can give us some seriously unwanted shine, especially in the t-zone. Lightly blot those high-shine areas with either a matte translucent powder, or a shade that won't add to much color to your look. I used Chanel's Double Perfection Lumière in the shade 12 Beige Rosé. There is nothing quite like a little Chanel, and this compact features a gorgeous mirror for those sneaky touch-ups between songs.
+ The lipstick that will last you all night long.
If you haven't tried Jeffree Star's liquid lipstick formula, you are SERIOUSLY missing out. This. Stuff. Is. Incredible. It glides onto lips like warm icing on a cupcake, hydrating your pout for a flawless look that will never smudge, crack, or dry out. Not only does this formula last forever, it is actually borderline difficult to get off your lips (nothing that a little coconut oil can't handle, however). My shade of the night was Celebrity Skin, a stunning nude that would be perfect on just about everyone.
Wherever I go, I am sure to have a fragrance (or five) in my purse. I don't have a signature scent, though I always seem to be attracted to warm vanilla scents with a touch of sexy musk... This little sample-sized rollerball perfume is Yves Saint Laurent's Black Opium. The notes of black coffee have an addicting affect, balancing the femininity of white florals and hints of vanilla. You have to try it to truly understand how divine and utterly rock n'roll this fragrance is - and it only gets better as the night rolls on.
(If you can't seem to find a fragrance that you love, don't forget that you can always get a sample. They last a lot longer than you think, and are perfect for any clutch or even when travelling).
Even though those are the only things I could fit in my clutch, here are a few more things you just might be able to squeeze in if you're lucky...
+ Mint toothpicks.
Eat, be merry, and make sure to keep that smile looking it's absolute best.
+ Lash glue.
Big lashes can be fun, but there is nothing worse than a pair of that can't seem to stay put. Try Duo's Eyelash Adhesive in the dark-tone - the glue is a dark brown, and blends in seamlessly with black or brown eyeliner. Total must.
What will you be bringing on your next night out?
