After reviewing DedCool for the first time in a blog post this past Summer, the indie brand out of LA has since become a personal favorite. Their fragrance oils are sexy, gender-neutral, and so "of-the-earth," truly igniting my senses and inciting the poet in me. I absolutely adored their first 2 scents, and couldn't wait to get my hands on their 3 latest blends... (These photos I captured of my lovely cousins, Valentina and Isabella, remind me of my signature DedCool scent, Fragrance 05 "Spring.") + Fragrance 03 "Blonde" This zingy, oriental fragrance is not a scent I would normally be drawn to, but as it soaks into my skin, I feel energized by the sweetness of raspberry and juniper berries, yet balanced by the spice of saffron and the bottom blonde woods note that takes center stage. I close my eyes and am immediately taken to a Japanese garden, sipping on hot tea and breathing in the romantic aroma of violets and roses. This fragrance feels empowered and refined. + Fragrance 04 Black pepper, the spicy top note in 04, is so unique, and perhaps one of the most underrated aromas in my most humble opinion. The subtly present (most powerful at first spritz) pepper warms and softens the brightness of citrusy orange and lemon middle notes. At its base, sensual sandalwood and earthy patchouli take me to a particular moment in time... a time of deep gratitude and contentment, overlooking a summer sunset filled with the promise of something like freedom. Somehow, I feel a nostalgia when I breathe this fragrance in, and imagine it smelling just as intoxicating, if not moreso, on the man who experienced this moment in time with me. + Fragrance 05 "Spring" This scent embodies those sweet, misty mornings in springtime, with dew on grass that hasn't seen the sun since summer, and a chill in the air that shocks bare toes and flushes pale cheeks. The notes of moss and patchouli bring with it rich, earthy undertones, though the core of this fragrance lies a non-powdery floral with a slight, yet sharply vibrant citrusy bergamot. What I love most about this fragrance is how subtly and sensually it plays with the skin, like the silk straps of a camisole that slide down one's shoulders... It can only really be smelled when breathing in the essence of Spring deeply with closed eyes, or leaning in close to the nape of a lover's neck.
