Although the Japanese brand MUJI 無印良品 is known for their minimalist yet chic aesthetic, I've come to learn that their skincare seriously packs a punch...
If you haven't heard of MUJI 無印良品, you must find a shop near you ASAP...
Seriously.
Muji in Japanese translates to "no-brand quality goods," which essentially means that everything in the store screams simplicity and elegance with (mostly white) neutral colors - and if that's your style, Muji then roughly translates to "I have seen the gates of heaven." Skincare, everyday essentials, home decor, aroma diffusers (I'm obsessed), stationery, travel bags/containers, clothing... you name it, they've got it. And as MUJI puts it, "simplicity and emptiness yield the ultimate universality, embracing the feelings and thoughts of all people."
Ahhh, the poetry.

As you all have come to learn, I am as curious as a kitten... so I just had to try some of their skincare (especially since I am so obsessed with all things Japan and the Japanese culture).

+ Cleansing Oil
This no-frills cleansing oil comes in at a close second to my fave way of removing makeup at the end of the day (my ride or die oil being coconut oil, which I blogged about here). This travel-sized cleanser is only $7, is made of 100% vegetable oils, and is completely fragrance free. Squeezing a bit into my palms, I like to begin cleansing my skin with the oil before warm water even touches my face. This technique can help remove tough-to-remove liquid lipsticks, eyeliners, and mascaras without damaging/losing those precious lashes. A must in any makeup-lover's nighttime routine.
(As a note, in-between this step and the next, I would normally go in with a cream cleanser or, on those lazy days, a makeup cloth/wipe).

+ Light Toning Water, High Moisture
Once your face is squeaky clean, I love toning and balancing with this incredible water (which looks like water, but has a thicker consistency). This $10 bottle will literally last you forever (a little goes a long way), is made for sensitive skin in mind, and is perfect for the colder months because of it's high moisturizing qualities. The grapefruit seed extract is refreshingly lovely and cooling, yet not at all overpowering.

+ Moisturising Milk, High Moisture
The matching $10 lotion (also with grapefruit seed extract) in this sensitive skin/high moisture set is just as it's described - milky. The cream is surprisingly light and doesn't weigh my skin down at all, and when applied after the toning water, leaves me feeling completely refreshed, clean, smooth as silk, and ready for bed.

After using these products for quite some time, I have to say, I have definitely noticed a change in the health of my skin. I remember the morning after I first used Muji's range, I immediately noticed a newfound softness and hydration that I was in desperate need of. Not only will I be repurchasing this range (as well as trying more of Muji's skincare), but I love displaying these cute Japanese bottles on my shelf as a constant reminder of the country I so desperately wish to visit.

Have any of you readers been to Japan?
